Restoration of Lytle Monument at Chickamauga
The shell monument in honor of Gen. William H. Lytle was erected at Chickamauga in 1884 and as late as 1936 it still had a pyramid of cannon shells like the other monuments. At some point the monumet was cannibalized and many of the cannon shells were stolen.
The Lytle camp is planning a restoration of the monument to it's original condition as seen in this circa 1900 photo:.
